Greg Rideout
Greg was born and raised in Ontario. He moved to Alberta after completing high school to start working at theaters in Edmonton. Greg met his wife there and moved to British Columbia’s Lower Mainland, where they lived for ten years. During these years he worked as a carpenter in both film and theatre, fulfilling his lifelong passion for being creative with wood. Although Greg and his wife greatly enjoyed their life in British Columbia, they pursued adoption and chose to move to rural Saskatchewan to raise their family. They adopted two children which was an unbelievable blessing and opportunity for learning.
Their children are of First Nations descent, and they strive to not only teach them about their culture, but to embrace it. Work-life balance is of utmost importance to Greg, and he is grateful for the flexibility of being able to spend quality time with his children teaching them valuable life skills. His family have now been living in Saskatchewan on their acreage for 18 years. It has provided him with many opportunities for professional growth over the years, including learning about greenhouse and beekeeping operations.
Greg has a woodworking shop that is like his second home. He makes cabinetry and a variety of woodworking art projects including garden furniture and oversized Adirondack chairs for fun. Over the past year he has been expanding his skillset of working with wood to include creating a variety of bowls, cutting boards and charcuterie boards. His passion for creativity with wood has been rekindled, and he finds it immensely enjoyable to challenge himself to create a different piece every time. He strives to utilize a variety of wood species in his pieces, the contrasting colours make every piece unique and breathtaking.
