J. Charles Walsh
Jim Walsh who paints as J. Charles is a British Columbia artist with a career spanning over 30 years and includes such diverse media as painting, photography, and graphic design. This dynamic artist has shown in galleries and exhibitions all over North America with paintings featured in numerous publications including the Artists of British Columbia as well as in private and corporate collections. Jim who grew up in New York City and is now a resident of British Columbia, draws his influence from the diversity of the natural world around him. Captivated by the scenery of this beautiful province, his most recent works exhibit the geometric patterns created by lakeside foliage. His original works can be seen throughout North America.
“As a painter I am drawn to the random patterns and colors that I see and feel in our natural surroundings. I’m interested in capturing a specific moment and then reimagining it through the colors that I see as well as the colors that I want to see. When I start a painting I have a vision of the finished piece, but that will often change along the way as the painting will take on a life of it’s own. I strive to recreate on canvas a feeling that a particular scene conjures in my mind. Each painting is an honest attempt to share that vision.”
