The child's eye in Serge seeks to express movement and joy through the bursting shapes and colours. He loves Quebec villages, and in this theme he likes houses to touch because they support each other, forming a group or tribe that is essential to the mutual help they can bring to each other.
The deformation that "crochets" his buildings is wanted and fully assumed, because straight lines are, for him, monotonous and boring.
His work dances on the line between a strict figuration and a comic view. It conveys joy. He brings a smile to those who see his work, thus creating a real communication between the creator and the spectator.
