Tom Haukaas

Tom Haukaas is a self-taught painter based in Nelson, British Columbia. He has been creating artwork since 2008 and has exhibited his paintings publicly since 2013. His practice centers on realistic landscape painting, drawing inspiration from the natural surroundings of Southeast British Columbia.
Haukaas focuses particularly on the interplay of water, rock, and light, capturing both observed and imagined scenes. Through careful attention to structure and detail, his work explores the character and atmosphere of the region. Using colour, texture, and tone, he seeks to convey the diversity of the landscape while reflecting its shifting moods and subtle transformations.
